Fluorination of Defective Titanium Dioxide with an Efficient Photocatalytic Activity

نویسندگان

چکیده

Fluorinated-defective titanium dioxide (F-TiO2−x) was successfully synthesized by fluorination of TiO2 through the hydrothermal method. The microstructure and physicochemical properties catalyst were characterized scanning electron microscopy, transmission X-ray diffraction, photoelectron spectroscopy, UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV–vis DRS). As expected, F-TiO2−x demonstrates high photocatalytic activity stability on dye degradation. Results indicated that fluorine element can effective for stabilizing Ti3+ oxygen vacancies surface F-TiO2−x. With increase in amount hydrofluoric acid (HF) added, performance prepared material is first increased then decreased, shows best when HF added 0.3 mL. For three different dyes, catalysts all showed a certain degradation performance, effect rhodamine B best.

Titanium dioxide photocatalytic inactivation of prions.

Prions are postulated to be the infectious agents of a family of transmissible, fatal, neurodegenerative disorders affecting both humans and animals. The possibility of prion transmission constitutes a public-health risk that confronts regulatory authorities everywhere. The main problem in handling prions is the fact that they are extremely resistant to standard decontamination methods. Thus, t...

Reusable photocatalytic titanium dioxide-cellulose nanofiber films.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a well-studied photocatalyst that is known to break down organic molecules upon ultraviolet (UV) irradiation. Cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) act as an attractive matrix material for the suspension of photocatalytic particles due to their desirable mechanical and optical properties. In this work, TiO2-CNF composite films were fabricated and evaluated for photocatalytic ac...

Titanium dioxide nanoswords with highly reactive, photocatalytic facets.

Titanium dioxide (TiO(2)) is one of the most widely studied and important materials for catalysis, photovoltaics, and surface science applications, but the ability to consistently control the relative exposure of higher surface energy facets during synthesis remains challenging. Here, we present the repeatable synthesis of highly reactive, rutile {001} or {101} facets on broad, sword-shaped TiO...

Black Hydroxylated Titanium Dioxide Prepared via Ultrasonication with Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity

The amorphous TiO2 derived from hydroxylation has become an effective approach for the enhancement of photocatalytic activity of TiO2 since a kind of special black TiO2 was prepared by engineering disordered layers on TiO2 nanocrystals via hydrogenation. In this contribution, we prepared totally amorphous TiO2 with various degrees of blackness by introducing hydroxyls via ultrasonic irradiation...

Titanium dioxide mediated photocatalytic degradation of malathion in aqueous phase

The photocatalytic degradation of technical grade pesticide ‘malathion’ has been studied in aqueous suspensions of TiO2. The main aim of using this process is to degrade the toxic complex structure of the pesticide to harmless products by treating the sample in the UV-reactor. The COD measurements are carried out in order to study the percentage mineralization and degradation is studied under d...
